Fall or Summer?

You decide...
  • It's the middle of October.
  • It's nearly 100 degrees outside today.
  • It was only 70 degrees yesterday.
  • Pumpkin Spice is everywhere.
  • The cats have melted again.
  • The dog still refuses to cool off in water, (but that's a story for another time).
  • Halloween costumes are in process.
  • Ice water anyone?
  • Christmas displays going up around the craft stores.

I'm confused. I think the weather is too. Not to mention the stores. I mean Christmas already? I don't like to think about Christmas until after Thanksgiving. One holiday at a time please!

Santa Anna's are not my favorite weather events. My favorite weather events are snow storms. But, only if I have no where to go and the house is stocked with food and wood for the fire. I must find a place that has winter again. Southern California is great most of the time. But, in my opinion, it severely lacks weather diversity. Especially, where I live near the coast.

What's a poor country girl to do when she needs a weather diversion? She drives out to visit the winter! Yes! Yes, she does!

Unfortunately, it's the wrong time of year for winter weather diversions. But, I have pictures of winter weather from 4 years ago when we lived in the mountains out here.

Allow me to bask in the remembered cold for a moment...  Ahh, that's better.

At the proper elevation, there is the perfect mix of deep snows that only last a couple of days. Ahh... the best of both worlds! Deep snows  and short winters! Forget the end of summer, maybe I can skip fall... But, bring on winter!
